New York's millionaire population is now larger than the entire populations of Orlando or Pittsburgh. The Bay Area's millionaire population has surged by 82% over the past decade, to 305,700. The U.S. is home to 11 of top 50 richest cities, according to the report. "Notably, U.S. cities have significantly outperformed other western cities over the past decade when its comes to overall wealth and millionaire growth." The Los Angeles Police Department removed a pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Southern California early Sunday morning, pushing several dozen people out of the campus gates in the latest crackdown on student protesters there. The encampment had sprouted up nearly two weeks ago in Alumni Park, a central quad on U.S.C.’s campus in Los Angeles. Los Angeles police said on Sunday morning that they had made no arrests while clearing the encampment for the second time. CNN —A stronger and longer-lasting atmospheric river event is set to hit California this weekend, bringing a considerable risk for flash flooding, mudslides, damaging winds, and heavy mountain snow. Nearly 40 million people are under flood watches including San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego. In Southern California, widespread rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches are expected – more than a month’s worth of rain for most. A more widespread Level 2 exists for much of coastal California including San Francisco down through Los Angeles. On Monday, the Level 3 of 4 risk expands farther south to include Los Angeles.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels will not trade three-time AL MVP Mike Trout, general manager Perry Minasian confirmed at MLB's winter meetings on Tuesday. “Mike Trout will not be getting traded, 100%,” Minasian told MLB.com and other outlets. Trout is under contract through 2030, and he makes $35.45 million annually with a full no-trade clause. Ohtani met with the Dodgers in the past few days, their general manager, Dave Roberts, said Tuesday. The Angels will play next year under new manager Ron Washington, who said last month that Trout and Anthony Rendon are key leaders and players for the club.

Over the past 30 years, Nashville, Tennessee — a city known for country music — has seen a flood of transplants moving from higher-cost cities. For new residents, "everybody has a different story," said Jeff Hite, chief economic development officer of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2022, the Nashville metropolitan area grew by about 35,624 people, or roughly 98 new residents per day, according to Census data compiled by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's Research Center. Since 1990, the population has grown 81%, with more than two— million residents in the Nashville metropolitan area in 2022. Attracted to a "central location," some 43% of downtown residents moved from out of state, survey data from the Nashville Downtown Partnership shows.
